What?s the difference between luxury vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile?
Are you in the market for new flooring? What do you think about luxury vinyl flooring? It has much to offer the homeowner. It is functional, looks great, and is a reasonable price. But then there's the decision that you have to make: plank or tile? What?s the difference? Let us at Westvalley Carpet and Flooring help you with that.
Luxury Vinyl Plank
Luxury Vinyl Plank, also known as LVP, is generally used for wood-look flooring. It has a plastic composite wood core. The basic shape of LVP is a long plank-like shape, with varying widths, depending on your preference. LVP is very flexible and molds nicely to the floor. So you want to have any damage to the subfloor repaired before you lay the LVP down. With LVP, you can get any species of wood-look you desire.
Luxury Vinyl Tile
Luxury Vinyl Tile, also known as LVT, has a plastic composite tile core. It comes in a square format of various sizes. LVT can mimic stone, tile, brick, and even wood! Unlike LVP, LVT doesn?t mold to the subfloor. It is stiffer and more rigid in texture and firmness.
Qualities of both
LVP and LVT are both constructed of PVC, a standard construction material naturally resistant to any liquid. This resistance carries over with the LVP and LVT, so both are innately waterproof. When exposed to water for any time, they won't ripple, curl, or warp.
It?s your preference
When you look at it, the only real difference between LVP and LVT is the shape and size. Both do essentially the same thing for your floor. So the question comes down to preference. Do you want a wood-look floor? Or are you looking for a tile with grout added for extra visuals? Whatever you choose, we can deliver for you.
